Picchio, which means "woodpecker" in Italian, has a strong desire to "preserve the forests and the animals and plants that live in them for the future." When Picchio thought about what he should do to achieve this, he came to the answer that "to let as many people as possible know about the forests of Karuizawa and increase their value."
Our goal is to make as many people as possible realize that forests are home to a diverse range of plants and animals, and that this has meaning and brings positive value.
That's why at Picchio Karuizawa, we support exciting encounters with plants and animals, offering nature tours that allow you to experience their fascinating and mysterious nature, and we also thoroughly research the behavior of Asiatic black bears, which can sometimes cause damage, and propose ways for us to coexist with them.
We are looking for staff for the summer only [July/August] who will help run and support the event to increase the value of the forests of Karuizawa together with our Picchio friends this summer. If you like the nature of the forest, the plants and animals in the forest, and the children who gather there, please check the details and why not join us as a staff member and have fun while working to increase the value of the forest?
