Hoshino Community Base The "Wild Bird Forest Maintenance Team" is working together to create a lush forest.Event period 2026/06/03

Located adjacent to the Karuizawa Hoshino area, the Karuizawa Wild Bird Forest is a forest where you can observe approximately 80 species of wild birds throughout the year, and where flowers bloom in every season, making it an easy place to connect with nature. It is also a familiar spot on Picchio's nature observation tours.

Would you like to join us, the staff of Hoshino Area, and work together to ensure this forest is preserved for the future?

Human hands create habitats for living creatures.

Human intervention is also important for nurturing forests. If there are not only dense forests but also small patches of open woodlands and grasslands, then plants and animals suited to each area will thrive, resulting in a rich forest with high biodiversity.

In this activity, we will clear the undergrowth and create a grassland. Wild birds such as the Common Rosefinch and the Meadow Bunting will visit the open environment. When grassland flowers such as Cimicifuga simplex and Angelica shikokiana bloom, butterflies such as the Chestnut Tiger will also begin to flutter about. Let's create such a rich forest of the future together. We would be happy if you could spend a fulfilling time with a sense of accomplishment through this work.

One of the joys of visiting the forest is being able to hear amazing stories about the creatures from the Picchio staff, who know the forest inside and out, while walking through the woods.

If you have your own familiar pruning saw or pruning shears, please bring them with you.

*This event is conducted as part of the activities of the Karuizawa town volunteer group "Donguri Undo Kai" (Acorn Movement Association), based on the Forestry Agency's "Forest Friendship Agreement".
