Hoshino Community Base The Wild Bird Forest Maintenance Team: Getting familiar with the forest and maintaining it togetherEvent period 2026/4/9

The Karuizawa Wild Bird Sanctuary is a beloved national park where anyone can easily interact with nature. In order to keep this familiar forest healthy, the Karuizawa volunteer group Acorn Movement, of which Picchio is also a member, carries out regular forest maintenance work based on the Forest of Interaction agreement.

Would you like to join us in working hard to preserve this precious forest for the future? Picchio staff will take the lead in clearing the undergrowth. Let's share the joy of shaping the forest with our own hands and cultivate a pleasant forest together.

Passing on bright grasslands to future generations — A gathering at Hoshino Community Base

This initiative is a Hoshino Community Base project themed around "enriching life in Karuizawa." Based at the foot of Mount Asama (base), it aims to create a "base"-like space where participants can connect with each other in a relaxed manner.

The grasslands that spread out in the middle of the forest are precious environments that are maintained through human intervention. By continuously mowing the grass and allowing sunlight to penetrate, we ensure that delicate grassland plants can bloom, and that these areas remain rich habitats where insects and wild birds that feed on them gather.

Between tasks, you'll have the opportunity to hear from the Picchio staff about the creatures that are currently gathered in this area. The landscape you've cultivated with your own hands will continue to shine as a hub for diverse life. The landscape of yesterday will transform into a beloved place that you protect with your own hands.

If you have your own familiar pruning saw or pruning shears, please bring them with you. Let's share the refreshing sense of accomplishment that comes from passing on this rich environment, which has been cherished for generations, to the next generation.
