Hoshino Community Base Heartwarming, handcrafting time at the Forest Knit CafeEvent dates: November 21, December 18, 2026; January 16, February 19, March 20, 2027

As winter begins in Karuizawa, with its crisp, clear air, we'll be hosting "Forest Knitting Cafe," a warm and inviting event where you can enjoy handicrafts against a backdrop of tranquil scenery. Let's share a time to enrich our winter lives, soothed by the soft feel of yarn and pleasant conversation.

"Forest Knit Cafe" is a place where people gather with yarn and enjoy knitting while chatting. Even if you feel like giving up alone, if you get together with other knitting enthusiasts, you might be able to do it! Both beginners and veterans are welcome to join us. Let's have a great time.

Naturally dyed yarn

From Kirishita Weaving Studio in Karuizawa, which creates works using natural materials and natural dyes, we offer plant-dyed yarns in gentle colors. There are two types of soft yarn: wool and silk-wool. Both are characterized by their natural colors and texture, and are light and pleasant to the touch. You can purchase enough yarn for one stole for 1,500 yen (knitting pattern included).

*The yarn in the center of the photo is wool dyed with madder. One ball of this yarn is enough to knit the stole in the back.

Recommended for knitting beginners.

Even if you're not confident in your knitting skills, why not start with a shawl? We'll lend you knitting needles along with the pattern (you can purchase them for 500 yen if you wish to take them home). If you get stuck, the experienced knitters around you will kindly help you out.

For those who are completely new to knitting but would like to give it a try, we also offer a beginner-friendly lesson (yarn included, 1,500 yen) where the owner of Kirishita Weaving Studio will carefully instruct you from how to hold the knitting needles. Let's aim to complete a small motif first.

No reservations are required. Please feel free to join us.CLICK HEREWhy not expand your circle of communication through knitting?
