Picchio's "Trekking to Meet the Japanese Serow" is a nature observation tour that takes you to "Kamoshika-daira," a place that spreads across the slopes of Mount Asama. While walking with an experienced guide, you will search for the Japanese serows that live leisurely lives. This is a special experience that can only be experienced in autumn, where you can also enjoy the silence of the forest and the mountain scenery.
Even beginners can enjoy this approximately 5-hour trekking tour with a guide, enjoying the scenery as you go.

A special place to meet Japanese serows

The tour takes place at Kamoshika-daira, located at an altitude of 1,900m. It is known as a spot where you have a high chance of seeing a Kamoshika. The moment you spot a wild animal with your own eyes is an incredibly moving experience.

With a guide, you can relax

A guide who knows the forest inside and out will accompany you and help you find the kamoshika's whereabouts. You can even use binoculars and telescopes to observe their movements.

A day of enjoying mountain climbing and nature observation

It takes about three hours from the trailhead to Kamoshika-daira. Along the way, you'll encounter larch forests, streams, and wild birds. This is a luxurious outdoor experience that combines mountain climbing and bird watching.

Price: 25,000 yen (including guide fee)

Eligibility: Junior high school students and above (maximum 8 people)

Meeting point: Picchio Visitor Center (7:50am)
