[Event Report] First time skating experience

2025/11/29

Hoshino Community Base, which holds courses and workshops with the theme of "enriching life in Karuizawa," will report on their "First Time Skating Experience."

Hoping to share the local culture of Karuizawa with the locals, we planned a mini trial session during this season, when autumn is looming and winter is approaching. Six people participated on November 5th and 6th.

The sky was high and clear on this day, the trees were dyed red and gold, and the sunlight reflected off the ice, creating a sparkling glow - the perfect weather for skating. The experience began in such serene nature. Many of the participants were skating for the first time, and they seemed a little nervous at first, but by warming up with some warm-up exercises and learning how to fall and get up, they gradually began to relax. After that, they used chairs for support and made their way onto the ice. With each first step, smiles naturally spread across their faces.

The colorful trees around the rink swayed, and the breeze caressed our cheeks, creating a pleasant experience. With breaks in between, everyone gradually got the hang of it, and by the end of the experience, some were able to skate without a chair. "I can skate better than at the beginning!", "It feels great to skate while looking at the autumn leaves," and "It was so much fun!" echoed throughout the venue.

Through this experience, participants not only learned the basics of skating, but also experienced the beauty of nature and the start of winter in Karuizawa. In the clear air of Karuizawa, participants had a heartwarming time, with smiles spreading across the faces as they chatted with each other and interacted with the staff.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who participated and to everyone who watched over us so warmly.
