A sake barrel will be opened on the day before the festival, showcasing the charms of Saku's 13 breweries / A special sake pairing dinner where you can speak directly with the brewers

Kagami-biraki ceremony held on the day before the festival to promote the appeal of Saku's 13 breweries
On September 9th, the day before the Karuizawa Sake Terrace, a sake event being held in the Karuizawa Hoshino area, was held. The event kicked off with a sake barrel opening ceremony, and many visitors were served sake, creating a peaceful atmosphere celebrating the arrival of autumn.
Appearing on the day were Shinshu Sake PR Ambassador Shiori Yui, who won first place in the National Sake Tasting Championship, and Mr. Yoda of Fuyo Sake Brewery, a representative of a local sake brewery. Ms. Yui spoke about the appeal of autumn sake, saying that "the flavor deepens with aging," while Mr. Yoda shared the passion and commitment of the local sake breweries. The audience listened intently, experiencing the depth of Japanese sake culture.
Saku, the neighboring town of Karuizawa, is home to an astounding 13 sake breweries. It is rare nationwide for so many breweries to be concentrated in one area, and Saku is also known as the "sake-producing region of Shinshu."

Special event where Mr. Yui and Mr. Yoda will appear again
The two, who enlivened the pre-festival, will now appear at a special event, hosting a seminar where you can experience pairing sake with Japanese food. On the day, the brewer from Osawa Sake Brewery will also be in attendance, and you will be able to compare and taste three types of Saku local sake while listening to his talk directly. By tasting them with seasonal tempura sashimi and five types of snacks, and learning about the history and commitment of both breweries, you will be able to discover a new charm of sake.
This seminar will allow you to enjoy the pairing of unique sake brewed by local breweries with autumn cuisine. Don't miss this rare opportunity to interact directly with local brewers.
