Winter Hot Pot Fair2026/01/24‐03/17

2026/01/10

At the Village Dining Hall, we offer hot pot dishes that will warm your body and soul, and can only be enjoyed during this winter season.

The four types of winter hotpots, each with a unique touch that is typical of a village restaurant, are appealing in that you can choose a hotpot individually and enjoy it with your favorite finishing dish.
We recommend enjoying it in a variety of ways depending on your mood that day, such as adding toppings like a soft-boiled egg or cheese to change up the flavor, or adding meat to make it more filling.

We will introduce a set menu that combines four types of hot pot with a recommended final dish.

Wagyu beef hotpot with Japanese pepper and soba noodles 4,500 yen

This hot pot dish combines wagyu beef and winter flavors in a deep, flavorful kelp broth infused with the umami of mushrooms. Enjoy a blissful moment as you quickly shabu-shabu the luxurious wagyu beef, pairing it with seasonal mizuna and mushrooms. If you like, you can add the accompanying sansho pepper to add a fragrant and stimulating accent, ensuring you won't tire of the dish until the last bite.

Toji soba noodles 2,280 yen

This is a specialty hot pot that Sonmin Shokudo is proud of, prepared in the style of "Touji Soba," a local Shinshu dish. A bonito and kelp broth is combined with a variety of mushrooms, creating a deep, savory flavor. You can add the fish balls yourself at your preferred time. Place the soba in a basket and "toss" it into the pot to heat it up. This little extra step is fun, and you can enjoy the unique flavor of Shinshu.

Beef offal hotpot and Chinese noodles 2,390 yen

The aroma of garlic will whet your appetite in this beef offal hotpot. Enjoy the rich flavor of the hotpot, made with Shinshu miso and white miso, along with plenty of vegetables, including chewy chives and cabbage. This hotpot will warm you up, making it perfect for winter. To finish off, add Chinese noodles and toss them in the broth for a satisfying meal.

Seafood miso chige and udon 2,700 yen

Seafood such as shrimp, scallops, and Japanese octopus are served in a miso jjigae with a pleasantly spicy kick. The rich, full-bodied flavor of Shinshu miso blends with the umami of the seafood, and the more you eat, the deeper the flavor will become. The broth, packed with the bounty of the sea, is so delicious you'll want to savor every last sip. Enjoy it to the fullest with udon noodles at the end of the meal.
