Take a break with a latte decorated with forest creatures.
The adjoining cafe offers warm drinks such as coffee and cocoa. You can also enjoy cafe lattes decorated with images of forest creatures like woodpeckers and flying squirrels. You can eat and drink rinkside while still wearing your skates, so you can relax between skating sessions while enjoying the forest scenery.
In winter, head to the rare natural ice rink.
Kera Pond Skating Rink is a skating rink located in the middle of a forest, utilizing water flowing from the adjacent "Karuizawa Wild Bird Forest." In autumn, a cooling system is used to freeze a portion of the pond, but as winter deepens from late December to early January, the entire pond freezes due to the severe cold, expanding the area where skating is possible. Enjoying the changing appearance of the ice with the seasons, as well as the scenery of the forest, is one of the unique charms of this rink.
In addition, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of its opening, the facility will be open free of charge on October 30th (Fri) and 31st (Sat), and will also offer special discounts until November 20th (Fri) for residents, employees, and students of Nagano Prefecture.
