Autumn leaves season
During the autumn foliage season, the artificial area opens, allowing you to enjoy skating while admiring the red leaves of maples and yellow larch trees.
Keraike Ice Rink is a skating rink formed by freezing a pond in the forest. It is adjacent to the Karuizawa Wild Bird Sanctuary, and many wild animals live in the surrounding area. Listen to the birdsong and look for fallen leaves that appear and disappear through the ice. Experience a walk on the ice while immersing yourself in the Karuizawa forest.
This season's business ended on March 1, 2026. Next season's opening is scheduled for late October.
During the autumn foliage season, the artificial area opens, allowing you to enjoy skating while admiring the red leaves of maples and yellow larch trees.
Every year in late December, the natural ice area freezes over, turning the entire pond into a rink. Fallen leaves can be seen peeking through the ice. Enjoy the high transparency and smooth texture that only natural ice can provide.
A natural ice rink that was created because Karuizawa has very cold winters. It is a very rare item now.
The adjacent cafe will sell hot drinks inspired by the forest for a limited time. You can also take it out to the circular bench on the ice.
Located right in front of Keraike Pond, Picchio hosts nature tours where you can enjoy encounters with forest creatures. The tour content varies depending on the season. Our staff, who love nature, will support you in your encounters with exciting plants and animals.
