[Event Report] Awakening Nordic Walking

With the theme of "Enriching life in Karuizawa," we offer opportunities for learning and experiences.Hoshino Community BaseHere's a report on the "Awakening Nordic Walk" session.

Spring is finally beginning to appear in Karuizawa. The forests are filled with the lively chirping of wild birds, and at this time of year, when nature awakens powerfully, we inexplicably feel like getting active. With the cooperation of SC Karuizawa Club, we all experienced Nordic walking, a popular activity in Karuizawa.

First, we'll start with a lecture on how to use the poles in the plaza in front of Tonbo-no-Yu hot spring. Using poles provides a greater exercise effect than regular walking. Once you get the hang of it, your legs will move forward surprisingly smoothly. One of the attractions is that poles are available for rent, so you can participate without bringing anything.

Once preparations are complete, we'll finally head to the Kose Forest Road along the Yukawa River.
With slightly wider strides than usual and a good rhythm, we walked along a gentle uphill path of about 1.5 km, with the babbling of the river and the high-pitched songs of wrens as background music. The open blue sky stretched above us, and the soft scent of the forest filled the air. The walk took about 30 minutes, but by using our whole bodies, we warmed up nicely, and it was a pleasant time where conversation flowed naturally. After finishing the walk, we stretched our legs and entire bodies to complete the walk.

Why not experience this refreshing feeling for yourself? The next event is scheduled for Saturday, April 18th. Whether you want to get some exercise or feel closer to the nature of Karuizawa, please feel free to join us.
