[Current Job]

My name is Tomosuke Niho, and I work at the Morland Studio in Karuizawa Hotel Bleston Court. I joined the company in February 2020, so this is my sixth year with the company.

Currently, I belong to the Morland Studio, the in-house photography and videography department at Karuizawa Hotel Bleston Court, where I mainly handle wedding photography. Regarding my career, after joining the company in 2020, I initially worked as part of the service team at Hoshinoya Taketomi Island. After that, I submitted a transfer request, and at Hoshino Resorts, if an employee wishes to transfer, there is a solid training system in place, even for highly specialized departments like Morland Studio. So, although I was an amateur at first, I am now able to work as a professional photographer.

[Job satisfaction]

Unlike hotel services, wedding photos and videos are something that customers will cherish for a lifetime. Therefore, there's a tremendous amount of pressure involved, but...

What I find most rewarding is when clients are delighted with the photos and videos I've taken, and when they tell me they're so glad they asked me to do the photography. Those are truly the most rewarding words a photographer can receive. Besides wedding photography and videography, I also do advertising shoots. I've shot advertisements for various Hoshino Resorts facilities, and it makes me very happy to see my photos and videos being featured in the media, on websites, and in the public eye.

Aside from my behind-the-scenes work, I'm also involved in product development, and currently I'm working on developing new products for next year.

[Characteristics of my current job]

Morland Studio has photographers and videographers ranging in age from their 20s to their 60s. Regardless of age or experience, we have an environment where we can freely exchange opinions and give each other feedback, which I think is very characteristic of Hoshino Resorts. We believe that simply relying on old techniques and experience, or simply following trends, will not result in photos or videos that will leave a lasting impression on our customers. What is important is that each staff member utilizes their own experience and sensibilities to continuously consider what is truly valuable to our customers.

Because each staff member is working towards the same goal and approaches their work with a mature attitude, I believe we have a workplace where we can actively exchange opinions and grow together.

How to spend your holidays

I've always been a true homebody, but a few years ago I got a cat, and since then I've become even more of a homebody.

So lately, I've been enjoying coffee and alcohol, and I often bring my favorite drinks with me to refresh myself. I do go out occasionally, and there's a winery near my house. Since it's the season when the greenery is beautiful, I sometimes take a stroll to the winery, bring back some new wines, and relax with my cats to unwind. The abundance of nature and the fact that I can just step outside the house to refresh myself is one of my favorite things about Karuizawa and Nagano.
