Self-introduction

Moderator: We are gathered here today with all of you who will be joining the company in April 2024, so please introduce yourselves.

Aoki-san: My name is Shunsuke Aoki. I joined the company in April and worked in the service team at Hoshinoya Karuizawa for the first six months. At my second facility, I worked at Hoshino Onsen Tombo no Yu as a morning and evening staff member, and at my third facility, I worked at BEB5 Karuizawa for one month. I am currently working at Hoshino Onsen Tombo no Yu as an evening staff member again.

Mori-san: My name is Mori Nonoka. I joined the company in April and until December I worked mainly in the dinner department at Hoshinoya Karuizawa. Since December I have been working in the management contract unit.

Sato-san: My name is Sato Hina. I joined the company in April and was assigned to the service team at the first facility, Karuizawa Hotel Breston Court. Since November, I have been working as a night staff member at Hoshino Onsen Tombo no Yu.

Tsumura-san: My name is Tsumura Tsubasa. I have been working at Tombo no Yu for half a year since April. Since October, I have been working in the service team at Karuizawa Hotel Breston Court.

Hometown and the appeal of Karuizawa (for people from outside the prefecture)

Moderator: Is anyone here from Nagano Prefecture? Thank you two. The other two are from outside the prefecture, right?

Moderator: Mori-san, I understand you are from outside the prefecture, but where are you from?

Mori-san: I'm from Ishikawa Prefecture.

Moderator: What made you decide to come to Nagano?

Mori-san: My whole family used to go on trips to Matsumoto and I always loved Nagano, so I'd always thought Nagano was a great place since I was a child. That's when I came to Nagano to go to university. I spent four years as a student there and decided that Nagano really was great, so I got a job here in Karuizawa.

Moderator: What do you think is the best thing about Nagano?

Mori-san: It's a comfortable place to live, but it's also rich in nature. When I was looking for a job, I wanted to work while experiencing the changes in nature every day, so I thought this was the perfect place for me.

Moderator: Thank you. Tsumura-san, where are you from?

Tsumura: Yes, I'm from Tokyo.

Moderator: So you lived in Tokyo all the way through your student days and until you started working.

Tsumura: Yes, I've always lived in Tokyo.

Moderator: I think this will be your first time leaving the Kanto region, so why did you choose Nagano?

Tsumura: I guess if you live in Tokyo, you have to live in a crowded place. But then when I came to Karuizawa on a trip, I was captivated by the natural beauty, and I wanted to work in this environment, so I decided to get a job in Karuizawa.

The appeal of Nagano/Karuizawa for people from Nagano Prefecture

Moderator: Thank you. Both of you mentioned the keyword "nature," but what about you, Aoki and Sato, who are from Nagano Prefecture?

Aoki-san: Yes, I agree with what you two said. You have a very strong love for nature. I love nature too, so I feel the same way.

Moderator: So, even though you all live in Nagano, nature is still a positive thing about it?

Aoki-san: Well, I wonder if there is just the right amount of nature. I lived in Tokyo during my university days, but sometimes when I want to take a break or relax, I feel like seeing some natural scenery. At those times, I realized that Nagano Prefecture, where I spent my youth, was just the right amount of nature in that sense, and I was able to confirm this.

Moderator: So, rather than planning to continue living in the Kanto region, you'd like to return to your hometown and find a comfortable environment.

Aoki-san: Yes, that's true. At the moment, that's the way I feel. It might change a bit in terms of my career, but that's how I feel right now.

Moderator: Mr. Sato, you are from Nagano Prefecture, but where did you go when you were a student?

Sato-san: I lived in Nagano until high school, but then I went to Okinawa for university.

Moderator: The environment has changed completely.

Sato-san: Yes, it's completely different. Well, Okinawa has its own unique nature, but Nagano has four seasons, so you can't see snow in Okinawa. I really miss the snow, and I really feel that Nagano's nature is great because it has four seasons.

Moderator: It really has to do with the environment, or the land. I was thinking as I listened that the distinctive features are what really hooked you all, but I'd like to break it down into a few areas and ask you about them. First, I'd like to ask you about what you did when you were a student looking for a job, which may have been a year or two ago.
