[Current job and what I find rewarding about it]

I'm Kiyotaka Ikeda from the Villagers' Cafeteria in the Karuizawa Hoshino Area. I joined the company in April 2024, so this is my third year. My current duties at the Villagers' Cafeteria include hall service, wedding service and cooking, and product development.

In terms of what I find rewarding, I feel a great sense of accomplishment when customers say "thank you" or when they tell me that the food at the village cafeteria was delicious. I also feel a great sense of accomplishment when not only customers but also the staff say "thank you, Ikeda-san." The work I am most focused on is drink development. I had an interview with the unit director, and when he asked me what I wanted to do, I said that I wanted to try developing drinks, and I was allowed to join the drink development team. It's still early days, and I'm currently serving as the leader, but seeing the customers order and enjoy the drinks that my seniors have created so far is very appealing, and I'm working hard now with the team so that I can create drinks like that too.

[Things I've learned since joining Hoshino Resorts]

One of the things I've really felt since joining Hoshino Resorts is that I'm able to challenge myself in a wide variety of ways.

When you think of working in a restaurant, you might imagine it's only about service, but I've actually been involved in wedding service, cooking, and even product development. I think it's great that I can be involved in a variety of tasks, not just front-of-house duties. Another thing is that I feel there's a really supportive environment where opinions are valued. When I have ideas for improvements to my work and talk to my seniors or unit directors about them, they'll say things like, "Why don't you try it?" or "Let's work on it together." I think it's great that Hoshino Resorts has an environment where you can express your opinions.

How to spend your holidays

I have many ways of spending my holidays. About once every six months, I go on a trip with local friends to places I've never been before. It's fun to travel to places I've never been to, but what I enjoy most is drinking and talking with my friends at night in our destination. Besides going out with friends, I also have holidays that I spend alone, and I really enjoy watching my favorite movies while eating my favorite sweets.

Also, there's something I've made a routine since starting my job: helping out with my grandparents' farm. From May to July, they get busy with grape work, so I help out then. I do tasks like thinning the grapes to make them look nicer and making them bigger, and I also go to help with the harvest, so I work every day with anticipation, imagining them growing bigger.
